Safety Bay Primary School

Safety Bay Primary School opened in 1942 with 14 students. During its first ten years of operation, the school moved location several times including to McLarty Hall and the Safety Bay Yacht Club. An increase in student enrolments finally led to the construction of a permanent school building, officially opened on November 14 1952, on the present site.

In June 2007 the Government announced the building of a new Safety Bay Primary School with a budget of $14 million.

The Safety Bay Community bid a fond farewell to the old Safety Bay Primary School in April 2009. Parents, students and teachers both past and present joined in a day of celebration and remembering as they said goodbye to an icon of the Safety Bay community. A smoking ceremony was held to acknowledge the past and present owners of the land – the Noongar people.
