SCHOOL PURPOSE STATEMENT
Glen Forrest Primary School shares with parents in facilitating the academic, creative, social, physical and attitudinal growth of the children. The school was founded in 1891 and is the centre of a thriving residential area - which is a very cohesive community. The school serves the communities of Glen Forrest, Hovea, Mahogany Creek and the eastern part of Darlington. The school is used by many community groups and organisations for sporting and other recreational activities.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY
The Glen Forrest community covers a land area of 54sq km. The main occupational categories of the residents are office workers, professionals, sales and personal service workers, tradepersons, and paraprofessionals. The population is very homogeneous and many families have lived at the same address for 5 years or more.

FEATURES OF THE LEARNING PROGRAM
There are 13 primary classes, 1 pre-primary and 1 pre-primary/kindergarten class served by the Principal, two Deputy Principals, ten full time and eight part time teachers. The staff is a very experienced one, with an average length of service of five years at the school, and in most cases more than 10 years teaching experience.

The support staff consists of ten people, the registrar, school officer, library officer, junior primary teachers assistant,two pre-primary assistants, four special needs assistants and gardener.

The school has an Art Specialist, Physical Education specialist and Instrumental Music is taught. Bahasa Indonesian is taught for Years 3 to 7 for one hour per week.
